Task 1 – Forms of Storytelling

Not all games started out as games, some got their story from other sources and some times, the reverse is true.

Text
Some video games have been based off of books like the Witcher, and some video games have had books made based on them to expand upon their lore such as the Halo series books. Books tend to contain alot of story and lore that can really help develop a game.

Theatre
A video game based on theater is Puppeteer as it is about someone who has been turned into a puppet, there are also some theaters based on video games like Half-life. This source is a rather obscure one as I could only find one game based on it.

Film
Quite a few video games are based off of films like Star Wars: battlefront and some video games have been successfully adapted into films like the tomb raider series (Unlike the Hit-man movie, that was barely related to the game). Games based on films take a world people want to interact with, and let them do it.

Television
Some video games are based off of television series like Simpsons: hit and run. there were even some television shows based off of video games (although mostly animated series), such as Earthworm Jim and Mega-man. Similar to films, games based on TV shows allow people to interact with the world from the series.
